DIMMU BORGIR and Nuclear Blast are planning to release a limited edition
live shaped CD. The disc will include five live songs recorded the
"Puritanical Euphoric Misantropia - Tour". The CD will only be available at
mail order from Nuclear Blast and is expected to be released in December
2001/January 2002.
To celebrate Virgin Steele's 20th anniversary, 2 CDs - 'The Book Of Burning'
and 'Hymns To Victory' - will be released early January 2002. The albums
will contain Virgin Steele's greatest tracks from the last 20 years. All
tracks are re-mixed and re-mastered, with many of them re-arranged and
partly re-recorded. It will also contain two previously unreleased bonus
tracks.
Polish death metal gods Vader are confirming that bassist Shambo is no
longer a part of the band and that the band's management is currently
auditioning musicians to fill the spot. Meanwhile Vader have already booked
a studio to record their forthcoming album. The release is expected in May
2002 on Metal Blade Records.

Hi, here we go again. More news for you.
ICED EARTH will release a 5-CD Box set, entitled "Dark Genius", in November.
The set will include remixed and digitally remastered versions of the first
three studio albums ("Iced Earth", "Night Of The Stormrider" and "Burnt
Offerings"), 11 tracks of ICED EARTH covering their favourite bands and the
demo recordings that led to the band’s record deal with Century Media
Records. Sounds like an absolute MUST HAVE for any ICED EARTH fan!

to go to Europe but stay home instead.

OK, here's the thing: Finnish Power Metal sensation Sonata Arctica is
putting out a couple of singles - Japanese and Finnish. The singles are:
'Black Sheep' (Jap) and 'Last Drop Falls' (Fin).
Both have a cover of IRON MAIDEN's 'Die With Your Boots On' and an acoustic
version of 'Mary-Lou'. But the Japanese disc features a second cover, Bette
Midler's 'The Wind Beneath My Wings', from the film Beaches.
Have to add that the band recorded both gigs in Tokyo, on September 3rd &
4th, and now is planning to put out a live album.
Hope you got it.

Comparing to Sonata Arctica, everything's clear with Kamelot. The recording
of the new album is about to begin. Release date is scheduled for NEXT
Autumn (means, 2002). Just a year away, what's the big deal?

As a response to certain E-mail messages, sent to us by some "peace"
organisations and individuals, concerning the kamikaze bombing of US World
Trade Centre and Pentagon, HOUSE OF NOIZZ would like to make the following
statement:
The rock’n’roll party HOUSE OF NOIZZ will support all kind of action
aiming to erase the terrorist scum from the face of the planet.
Organisations responsible for the death of thousands of innocent people and
the governments, patronising these organisations MUST be punished in the
most violent and merciless way. No "peace talks" can resurrect nor avenge
those who died in United States on 11th of September 2001! Violence and war
is the only language understood by the terrorists and religious fanatics.
Violence and war is what they WILL get.
The time for mourning is over. Now it is time for VENGENCE!

HELLOWEEN has just announced the new drummer! The guy's name is Mark Cross
and before joining the Power Metal legend he used to play in METALIUM and
recorded drums for NIGHTFALL's "Diva Futura".
Michael Weikath also promised to unveil the name of the new guitarist in the
nearest future.
Here, take a look at this fella, because THIS is what you gonna hear on at
least one of the HELLOWEEN's albums.
And one more: "The Dreadful Hours" is the name of the new album of MY DYING
BRIDE.
The track list features 8 songs and with the new album "The Slowest Band In
The World" is coming back to its' old Doom Metal roots. So anyone who expect
from MY DYING BRIDE any Paradise Lost-like pop-rock can...

 Sometimes the coincidences just happen… What do you think about THIS, for
example? The new live album "Live Scenes From New York" from the Progressive
Metal band DREAM THEATER came out on Tuesday morning, 11 September (!),
featuring on the cover the New York skyline, including the Twin Towers and
Statue of Liberty, in flames (!!!) on top of a big apple! The album was
quickly removed from all music stores, including the Internet.
Mike Portnoy, the drummer of the band, said in response for that: "It is a
horrible coincidence that we obviously could have never foreseen. The timing
of the release of the CD happening on the very same day as this tragedy is
merely an incredible coincidence. We are currently in discussions with the
label as to whether or not we will recall the CD's and replace them with a
different cover. Obviously, the recovery of everybody's personal lives here
in New York is the first priority."

We still believe that the bombing of the World Trade Centre is a terrible
tragedy and the merciless punishment must strike those who’s responsible,
but this CD will be a collection rarity within hours - that’s a fact!

Hail, brothers and sisters!
This is a very difficult time right now to think about music. Here in the
HOUSE OF NOIZZ we found ourselves deeply shocked with the news of New York
tragedy. This vicious and cowardly act against the innocent civilians was
targeting not only people of United States, but all humanity. Bastards, who
attack unarmed, helpless people and act against any rules of war MUST be
mercilessly punished! We really hope that the organisations and people who
stand behind this murder will be found and face their death in torments!
Of course, the Heavy Metal community cannot ignore the terrible tragedy:
according to www.metal-rules.com, the Seattle Progressive-Rockers
QUEENSRYCHE has announced the "Give Blood" campaign to help those injured in
New York in kamikaze plane crash on Tuesday. The blood drive will take place
at the Stadium Exhibition Centre in Seattle on Tuesday the 25th. The band
members will attend the event and give blood donations themselves. Donations
from the drive will be distributed both to Seattle area hospitals and rushed
to New York City to help the survivors of the recent tragedy. I'm sure that
more bands and musicians will follow the steps of QUEENSRYCHE!
And the news that could seem very impressing if not the current events: the
kings of Metal MANOWAR is finishing their new album! The fans can expect the
new single already in January 2002, followed in February by the new album.
In March a long, long World Tour will start! Meanwhile MANOWAR has
re-released their classical albums "Hail To England", "Into Glory Ride" and
"Hell On Wheels" in digipack, with lyrics and unpublished photos. The Metal
is back!

News from Melissa's favourite musician Tobias Sammet and his friends, EDGUY:
the brand new single, entitled "Painting on the Wall" is out now! The track
list features:

4. "Painting on the Wall" (Album Version)
The full-length album "Mandrake" will appear in-store on 24th September 2001
and will contain 10 tracks. The limited edition will also include a bonus
track "The Devil And The Savant". Bet, Mel can't wait... he-he-he... :)
BLIND GUARDIAN has just finished up the first single for the forthcoming
album! The single features two tracks: "And Then There Was Silence" and
"Harvest Of Sorrow". The single will also provide fans with some presents,
surprises, artworks and other goods. The album is on the way!
And one more for the road: Just a few days ago Max Thrasher has joined the
crew on www.pennydreadful.de as a full-time member. He will provide the
webzine with articles, reviews and other useful stuff. Congratulations!

Just a few hours ago FINNTROLL has officially announced that their European
tour has been cancelled! According to official sources, Katla has lost his
voice and doctors has forbidden him to sing. The band didn't get a
replacement in time and was forced to cancel the concerts. FINNTROLL are
planning a new tour later this year, but nothing's sorted out yet. Hope that
we could get in touch with Somnium soon and bring you some more news about
it in a couple of days. Meanwhile, we all wish Katla to get better as soon
as possible and bring the show back on the road!

Jay Graham, the drummer of SKYCLAD is out of the band. Jay couldn’t find
time to work with both SKYCLAD and Martin Walkyier’s RETURN TO THE SABBAT
and was forced to choose between these two bands. Looks like CLAD is falling
to pieces…
Once again about the comeback of Glam: SKID ROW together with the vocalist
Johnny Solinger has almost completed their new album "Thick Is The Skin".
The band is currently negotiating with the recording labels for the
contract. The album is planned for release later this year.

Once again: sorry for a long absence! Here’s some fresh news for you:
KING DIAMOND has moved the release of their new album "Abigail Part II - The
Revenge" from September this year to the beginning of 2002. Unfortunately,
there’s no explanation for this delay is given in any official sources. So
all we can do now is wait…
Some great news from our friends, the German webzine "Penny Dreadful":
U.D.O.'s new live double CD (recorded on their Russian tour earlier this
year) is scheduled for release in late September. The album will be titled
"Live In Russia" and features the 25 U.D.O. and Accept classics.
Furthermore, a live DVD from the same tour and a new studio album will
follow in May and March 2002.
And a couple of words about the interviews and what to expect from us in the
nearest future.
RAGE (Victor Smolski, the guitarist) - to be added on this site in a couple
of days.
AXXIS (Bernhard Weiss, the vocalist) - to be played on air in a few weeks.
Everybody PREPARE!
AND!! No one of us really expected this to happen, BUT Graeme English, the
bass-player of British Folk-Metal legend SKYCLAD, has replied to our request
and agreed to do the exclusive interview for us. We didn’t confirm any dates
nor times, so we can only hope that everything will go fine and we’ll get
this interview from Graeme! Fingers crossed!

A terrible news from HELLOWEEN camp!
Founder members Michael Weikath and Markus Grosskopf along with vocalist
Andi Deris are currently interviewing guitarists and drummers in their hunt
to replace Roland Grapow and Uli Kusch who are NO LONGER IN HELLOWEEN!
According to the official source, Uli and Roland were fired, because
they were paying too much attention to their solo projects.
Michael Weikath, the guitarist of the band, brought some enlightenment
into the situation: "We expect to announce our new line-up soon. There is a
lot of great talent out there and we are all excited about the future
possibilities for HELLOWEEN. Once the new line-up is finalised we will start
writing for the new studio album for release later next year. It will be a
new era for HELLOWEEN which will inspire us to give all our fans the very
best!"
On another hand, any rumours about Kai Hansen rejoining the band are
ENTIRELY untrue.
It’s a bloody tragedy, GODDAMIT!!!
SKYCLAD has confirmed that the new album with re-recorded versions of
band’s classic with Kevin Ridley on vocals will be released in September.
The working title of this creation is "No Daylight Nor Heeltaps". The
track-list isn’t given yet, though Graeme English, the bassist of the band,
has confirmed that the album will contain the new version of "Swords Of A
Thousand Men".
The "Best Of" album of BRUCE DICKINSON is scheduled for release in the
end of September 2001. The album will feature 2 new tracks and 11 classics
from BRUCE’s solo-career. The limited edition will also contain a CD with
rare and previously unreleased material.

Just a small unconfirmed RUMOUR: Martin Walkyier (ex-SKYCLAD) and his new
band RETURN TO THE SABBAT are in studio, recording the debute album. No
release date, no working title.

BLACK MARK PRODUCTIONS have just announced the release date for the new
BATHORY album, entitled "Devastator of Worlds". The new creation will appear
in stores on October 8th.
Death Metal legend BOLT THROWER is in studio, recording their new CD. The
title of the album will be "Honour - Valour - Pride" and recordings should
be finished in the first week of September. The band says that the album
will be "total BOLT THROWER", so we should expect an absolute killer. The
release is scheduled for 19th of November, 2001.
S.O.D. is releasing a DVD on September 24th called, "Speak English Or Live".
It features a live concert in Germany, behind the scenes footage of the band
hanging out and recording, as well as commentary by S.O.D. musicians - Scott
Ian and Billy Milano.
Smells like the Glam Stage is preparing for the massive uprising. After the
re-united THE DOGS D AMOUR, THE QUIREBOYS another band has raise from the
ashes. American FASTER PUSSYCAT has just released the new album - "Among The
Valleys Of Ultra Pussy". Same ol song and dance. Nothing ever changes in
this place. Highly recommended for all the Glam Rockers!
Another tribute album is released. This time it s "TWISTED FOREVER - A
Tribute To TWISTED SISTER" The Album features HAMMERFALL, Sebastian Bach
(ex-SKID ROW), MOTORHEAD, ANTHRAX, OVERKILL, CRADLE OF FILTH, and many
others. By the way, TWISTED SISTER is about to re-unite as well

Well, here we go again. Sorry for this long absence. Hopefully these news
will cover it for you:)
Seems like the Metal stage have given birth to a new sensation. Symphonic
Black Metal band STORMLORD from Italy has finished the production of their
second full-length album "At The Gates Of Utopia". According to
"metal-rules.com", the album contains very interesting material with lots of
tempo changes, great arrangements and symphonic choirs. The release is
scheduled for November. Should check them out, I reckon
Ex-Gamma Ray singer Ralf Scheepers and his band PRIMAL FEAR are ready to
enter the studio to record the album number 4. The studio is booked for
December, which means that the album will appear somewhere in March 2002.
The working title of the new opus is "Black Sun". Here we go, this is Rob
sorry, Ralf!
Another Black Metal band - the legendary IMMORTAL will enter the Abyss
studio in September. The new album will be released in the beginning of
February 2002 and in March IMMORTAL will start the tour with HYPOCRISY and
WARHAMMER.
Who knows, maybe we ll see them in New Zealand?
The news for those of you, who goes mental on IN FLAMES and DARK
TRANQUILLITY: The Gothenburg newcomers RECLUSION has finished their debut
album "Shell Of Pain". The album continues the traditions of "Gothenburg
Thrash", which means - lots of catchy tunes, screaming voice and epic
production. "Shell Of Pain" will be released in October. Should keep an eye
on that one!

The best medieval band of all times - BLACKMORE'S NIGHT - has released their
third album "Fires At Midnight". The band, consisting of Ritchie Blackmore
(Ex-DEEP PURPLE, Rainbow) and his wife Clandice Night, is preparing for
world tour. Hopefully we'll see them in New Zealand.

According to the official sources, Swedish GARDENIAN did NOT split! The
rumours about the break-up of the band was spread by the ex-members - Thim
Blom and Jim Kjell. Right now GARDENIAN is working on the new songs and
looking for a new label.
METALLICA's James Hatfield is in the rehabilitation clinic, taking a
treatment from alcoholism! Gotcha! Hehehe...

if everything will go fine, we'll do it next Thursday (9 August). Questions,
my friends, questions!!!

Just a few hours ago we got another message from the AXXIS camp:
"Hi Max,
I think we have a problem because we couldn't fly back from Spain to Germany
on Tuesday. There was a pilot strike in Spain and we couldn't get a flight.
That's the reason why I came today to Germany and now I have a lot of timing
problems. Tomorrow I'm away for one week in Netherlands. I can call you back
in about 8 days from Germany.
Be patient , it's not an excuse. We will do the interview!

Well, honestly I'm happy that at least he's fine, because I already decided
that the whole band got eaten by the merciless savages or became a victims
of Spanish Inquisition (that Spain, you know...).
So, let's be patient, as Bernhard suggested, and wait for a couple more
days.
